Colin's Wise Wednesday - 22nd May 2019

“I’m drinking from my saucer ‘cause my cup has overflowed”. While listening to a CD this morning before sitting down to do Wednesday’s devotion I heard this song and it came to me that I should share this song, so here it is as our devotion. Hope and pray that it will resonate within you like it did with me this morning.

It hit home to me in a new and special way, and made me not only listen to the words again but respond. A special friend of mind has been putting off seeing me recently and today after listening to the words of this song I was prompted to phone his son to find out what was wrong. It was my friend’s son that was going through a difficult time and needed someone to talk to. The words of the song came back to me; “And May I Never Be Too Busy to Help Others Bear Their Loads; then I'll Keep Drinking From My Saucer “cause My Cup Has Overflowed!". We are meeting this afternoon.

I've Never Made A Fortune
and It's Probably Too Late Now
but I Don't Worry About That Much
I’m Happy Anyhow
and As I Go Along Life's Journey
I’m Reaping Better Than I Sow
I’m Drinking From My Saucer
'cause My Cup Has Overflowed

Haven't Got A Lot Of Riches
and Sometimes The Going's Tough
but I've Got Loving Ones Around Me

and That Makes Me Rich Enough
I Thank God For His Blessings
and The Mercies He's Bestowed
I’m Drinking From My Saucer
'cause My Cup Has Overflowed

O, Remember Times When Things went Wrong
my Faith Wore Somewhat Thin
but All At Once The Dark Clouds Broke
and Sun Peeped Through Again
so Lord, Help Me Not To Gripe
about The Tough Rows That I've Had
I'm Drinking From My Saucer
"cause My Cup Has Overflowed

If God Gives Me Strength And Courage
when The Way Grows Steep And Rough
I’ll Not Ask For Other Blessings
I’m Already Blessed Enough
and May I Never Be Too Busy
to Help Others Bear Their Loads
then I'll Keep Drinking From My Saucer
"cause My Cup Has Overflowed!"

Written by Jimmy Dean

Let’s pray: “I’m drinking from my saucer ‘cause my cup has overflowed”. God Ithank you for the many blessings that you have bestowed on me in the good times and the bad. Thank You for your comforting presence no matter what I am going through. Your presence make the words of a song I remember from way back when “even the bad times are good” come to life. In Jesus name we pray with so much love and so much thanks giving. Amen

God Bless ~ Colin & Lyn
