Colin's Wise Wednesday - 2nd January 2019

When thinking about what I should share for the first devotion of the year my thoughts were along the line of reflection. I already had the pictures lined up in my mind but then a message on my cell phone prompted me to go in another direction.  The message I got was “Too much storage is slowing down the system”.   All my WhatsApp messages, pictures, videos and emails that I seldom refer to were taking up most of the space.

This message made me think of my life.  How much storage/baggage have I got that is slowing me down?  Are unimportant things like Facebook, WhatsApp, and emails cluttering up my life?   All these activities are taking up precious time and squeezing out the important things in life and I have the cheek to say I haven’t got the time or where did the time go.  I have been filling up my storage space with a lot of “stuff” most of which is not that important.

What things are slowing down your system?  Can you clear out some “storage” space for the important things in life?  If not turn to God as Jesus said in Mt 6:33 ”Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all things will given to you as well”.

After a few hours spent clearing my phone two more messages came up: “Your device has been optimized” and “Congratulations your phone’s maintenance status is excellent”.   I wonder what God’s message will be once we clear out our lives and make more room for Him to work in us and through us in 2019.  Wouldn’t it be great to hear “This is My son/daughter, whom I love; with whom I am well pleased”.

My New Year’s resolution is just one word (can’t remember more than one word) and that is Grace…love in action. With all the extra storage space available I pray that God will fill me with His Grace for me to share with all those He puts in my path in 2019. God luck with your resolutions and I pray that God will help you execute them

Let’s pray:  Lord we don’t know what 2019 holds for us but we do know who holds the future. No matter what the future holds, good or bad, we know that all time is in Your hands.  Let’s go into 2019 with love and peace in our hearts knowing that the God of love and peace goes with us. Amen

I pray for God’s abundant blessings on you and your family in 2019 and if it is God’s will we continue sharing  God’s word every Wednesday.

God Bless ~ Colin
