Colin's Wise Wednesday - 10th October 2018

I am truly blessed, another Wednesday is upon us and I am once again writing this devotion from the bush. You will notice the inspiration of the bush coming through in what I am sharing. As I write the family are around the table on the patio playing Monopoly Deal, a card version of the “old monopoly” and laughing away the afternoon before we start our sundowners drive and then gaze at the night sky with stars that shine like diamonds.

God is definitely using the natural world to get my attention: The heavens declare the glory of God. Ps 19:1 and The basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes the there it is. Rom 1:19-20.

We see signs of God all around us.  Sunsets that steal our breath away, sunrises that energise us, migrant birds that leave us in awe at the distances they travel. The falcons and the Steppe buzzards that travel from Russia. The Amur falcons’ migration is even more miraculous in that they travel 3000 km over the ocean  to get to us in their round trip of almost 25 000 km. The first sight of the Wahlberg’s eagles announces spring and the start of the raining season Oct/Nov and the first call of the Woodlands kingfisher heralds in the arrival of Summer. Both these species arrive from equatorial Africa.  But do all who see the signs draw closer to God?  Not always.   Many of us are content to simply see the signs. How often do we do that?

People who do not understand that God is kind to you so that you will change your hearts. Rom 2:4.

God uses every possible means to communicate with us.  The wonder of nature calls us to the promises of scripture as above.  God himself reaches out through nature to show He cares. I just hope and pray that God will give us the gift of discernment so that when He sends signs that we will know the way He wants us to go.

Let’s pray: I see the love in Your eyes Lord. I see the love in Your creation made with Your loving hand.  Please God let others see Your love in me and help me be the person that You want me to be. In Jesus name we pray with so much love and so much thanksgiving. Amen
